South African prop Botha signed with Munster at the start of the 2011/12 season after spending three seasons with Ulster Rugby.

He played Super 14 with the Sharks and was capped 26 times by South Africa after making his debut against the All Blacks in Pretoria in 2006. He last played for the Sprinboks against Australia in the Tri Nations game played in Brisbane in July 2010.

Of the 23 appearances he made for Munster in 2011/2012 season, 18 were as starting tight-head including all seven Heineken Cup games. Similarly in 2012/13 Botha was the starting tight-head in all eight of Munster's Heineken Cup games.

BJ sigend a two year contract extension at the end of the 2012/13 season.
