Sketch in 1997 SA vs Scotland programme

Willie Meyer was a member of the South Africa A side defeated by their Scottish equivalents in Hawick last year. A stalwart of Eastern Province from 1989 to 1996, winning the Player of the Year title in 1995, he joined Free State this season and brought added steel to the Cheetahs' pack. His first representative honour was for the North Eastern Cape under-19 side at Craven Week in 1984-85 and he has also represented the South African Barbarians. He toured with the Springboks to Italy and England in 1995.
