Divan Serfontein : Doc Craven

To appreciate Divan Serfontein, one has to watch the videos of the best tries scored in South African rugby during his era. Then the terrific role he played, his quickness in the clearing of the scrum, the long passes, his nippiness and the fact that he was able to draw the whole defence before sending his line away, become abundantly clear.

He had his hardships: we once dropped him and Hennie Bekker from the Stellenbosch first team to the Victorians (2nd team), but it did him no harm - even a great player has to know when he can improve.

Divan is underrated in our history books; he was a wonderful scrumhalf.
