Pierre Johannes Uys, who will play for Western Province next season, is a newcomer to the Springbok squad and won his first call against Scotland last week. Tall and athletic, he began his representative career with Free State Under 21s, moved to Griquas in 1998 where he was as a member of their successful Vodacom and Currie Cup teams and last year switched to the Pumas. From there, he made five appearances for the Blue Bulls in the Super 12. Was educated at the University of the Free State.
