Septimus Ledger

Septimus Ledger was born on 29 April 1889, in Kimberley, son of Fred and Elizabeth Ledger (nee Knobel).

Remarks: SA tour of British Isles and France 1912-1913.

War service: 6004, Sergeant, 2nd (Natal and Orange Free State) Battalion, South African Infantry, South African Brigade, 9th (Scottish) Division. He arrived in France on 25 July 1916 and joined his battalion on 31 July.

He was killed in action on 13 April 1917, at Arras, France and is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais, France [Bay 10].
