Willie van Renen : Doc Craven

As is the case with his brother Charlie, not too much is known about Willie.

I met him once or twice on the old members' stand at Newlands and from speaking to him it was apparent that he and Charlie were cast from the same mould.

The Van Renens were a very famous Cape family, respectable, solid and decent.

Willie and Charlie epitomised all that is good in people - it was quite obvious that they were raised as gentlemanly sportsmen.
